The 50-key Ramble Hotel nestled in Denver’s River North Art District looked to 17th-century France for inspiration, with a design that recalls a Parisian literary salon. Local firm Johnson Nathan Strohe updated the surrounding warehouse aesthetic in the new-build’s architecture, while Avenue Interior Design imbued the space with the “warmth and comfort of a well-loved residence,” says Andrea DeRosa, principal of the Los Angeles-based firm.

A moody palette of sapphire blue continues that feel, as does a generous use of Old World touches like millwork, crystal chandeliers, Venetian plaster, and rich velvet draperies and headboards. Concrete and steel details complement the robust contemporary art program, which grounds the property in its time and place at the locus of a hip, arts-filled neighborhood.

The spacious public space merges the reception area, a lobby bar and lounge, a small café, and event space. F&B outposts throughout are a postcard to the Ramble’s eclectic feel. For example, New York cocktail institution Death & Co. opened its second outpost here and owns and operates a number of dining and drinking experiences throughout the hotel. The showstopping Super Mega Bien from chef Dana Rodriguez is a vibrant, lively addition to the property.

Intimate guestrooms boast a variety of colorfully patterned vintage area rugs and chandeliers placed in front of windows “for an eclectic, mysterious view from the exterior,” DeRosa reveals. These accents add up to a “deeply personal environment that resonates with guests long after they’ve checked out.”
