Set on the site of the former public library, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht has opened its doors in the Netherlands. Designer Marcel Wanders incorporates a modern interpretation of Dutch history and local culture throughout the hotel. He integrates the heritage of the hotel surroundings, including the Golden Age, Dutch Delft blue, tulips, and the color orange.
The hotel’s 117 guestrooms come in 15 different types, each defined by their open layout and a vanity centerpiece made from 330 pounds of concrete. Thoughtful design details include the hand-painted washbasin in Marcel Wanders’ signature “One Minute Delft Blue” style, the oversized book-shaped work desk, and one-of-a-kind wallpaper.
F&B options include Bluespoon restaurant; Bluespoon Bar, which exudes a “speakeasy” atmosphere; lounge; and library. Guests also have access to more than 4,300 square feet of function space, a fitness center, and spa.
