To honor Valextra’s 80th anniversary, Snarkitecture created an immersive pop-up experience in Milan that connects the luxe handbag and leather goods company with the city’s architecture. “We were inspired by the hard and soft of typical building scaffolding and the mesh that wraps it,” explains Paige Davidson, a designer at the New York-based firm. Stark, white walls wrapped in undulating mesh blur the boundary between wall and ceiling, while hard stone floors contrast with soft textures from custom foam furniture and carpeted walls. Delicate layers, a cloud-like appearance, and a monochrome palette achieve the ultimate result, says Davidson: “a play between the rational rhythm of the structure and irrational form of the surface.”
