Designed by local firm Smith Hanes Studio, Artisan Beauté medical spa opened late last year in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood to suit the world-class art it houses. Curated by owner Dr. Diane Alexander, the collection includes original works by artists such as Harriet Leibowitz, Gregory Colbert, and Vee Speers.
Curves appear throughout in custom door handles, brass chandeliers with blown glass globes, and a bespoke 13-process lacquer check-in desk. The building may be new, but with classical architectural elements like soaring ceilings, it feels established. “We wanted to give it a sense of history,” says firm owner Hanes. Among the most striking elements of the 4,000-square-foot space are the floor-to-ceiling glass and steel walls in the entry, inspired by a Todd Murphy-commissioned piece of art. “We knew the walls had to be transparent so you could see the piece from lots of vantage points,” Hanes says.
