Global architecture and design practice HKS has launched ROAM Interior Design, a new independently operated luxury design firm specializing in hospitality and residential projects.
Previously recognized as HKS Hospitality Interiors, ROAM will be led by design veterans Mary Alice Palmer and Olga Acosta, with an international portfolio including Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection in New Mexico and AMAALA Triple Bay Yacht Club in Saudi Arabia.
ROAM, which is presently based in Dallas and London, will maintain collaborations with HKS and offer a range of services, spanning interior design and architecture, branding, product design, creative direction, strategy, art and accessory curation, and F&B concept development. Operating independently allows ROAM to showcase its work more freely and collaborate with external partners, marking a new era for the firm.
The name ROAM encapsulates the studio’s narrative of finding creative inspiration through exploration and discovery. As a reflection of this philosophy, ROAM crafts immersive, sensory-driven experiences that deliver a sense of luxury and freedom to relax without a timeline. According to Palmer, ROAM’s design team embraces a fearless approach, without the fear of “jumping into the abyss,” letting instinctual creativity and innovation guide their projects.
Projects currently in the pipeline include the Ritz-Carlton, Portland Hotel & Residences in Oregon, and Es Fum restaurant and “Mar” Sea Club at the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort in Spain.
