Niki Leondakis, former CEO of Two Roads Hospitality (lifestyle hotel management company of Thompson, JDV, Alila, Destination, and tommie brands), has been appointed CEO of Equinox Fitness Clubs. An industry veteran of more than 30 years, Leondakis will begin her new role in April overseeing the executive leadership team and reporting to executive chairman and managing partner of Equinox Holdings Harvey Spevak.
“I am thrilled to be joining Equinox as the team executes an ambitious vision for growth and further evolves its luxury lifestyle brand,” Leondakis says. “As a hospitality industry veteran, I am passionately committed to bringing the best possible experience to guests. This will be central to my role at Equinox, especially as the company diversifies its branded offerings to its members.”
Leondakis previously served with Kimpton Hotels for two decades, acting as president and COO. She became CEO of Commune Hotels in 2012, which merged with Destination Hotels in January of 2016, eventually rebranding as Two Roads.
“Equinox is more in-demand than ever before, and Niki’s proven track record of success in building lifestyle brands will prove invaluable as we embark on our next phase of global growth,” adds Spevak. “A gifted leader with a keen grasp on guest experience, Niki will work closely with me and the team to execute our brand vision as we identify and capitalize on expansion opportunities.”
Equinox Fitness operates 86 clubs across the globe. Equinox also just launched a hotel division, with its first property set to debut in 2019.
