Brooks T. Atwood has joined Los Angeles-based R&A Architecture + Design as the firm’s new director of design. Atwood most recently led his Brooklyn-based studio Brooks Atwood Design, and has served as a professor with the New School’s Parsons School of Design as well as the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). During his tenure at NJIT, Atwood worked as the assistant director of the Idea Factory think tank, which developed innovative approaches to creating healthy buildings, medical devices, materials, and products.
“Los Angeles is a city ripe with possibilities,” says Atwood. “The design communities here are open to experimentation and innovation to serve ideas and purpose—not merely for their own sakes.”
Atwood received a master’s of science of in advanced architectural design from Columbia University’s Graduate School Architecture in New York.
