Wilson Associates has appointed Enrique Vela as design director and associate principal of its Los Angeles design team.
“Enrique is young and inventive, with vast design experience for his tenure,” says Olivier Chavy, president and CEO of Wilson Associates. “Under his leadership, our Los Angeles office is sure to design tomorrow’s most iconic interior environments.”
To assume his new role by the end of the month, Vela will work alongside managing director Hussain Kamal.
“Finding a powerhouse designer like Enrique will allow the Los Angeles office to delve into new arenas of luxury design,” says Kamal. “We’re going to showcase a side of Wilson that will engage and inspire our clients, both new and old, around the world.”
Vela most recently served as associate principal at Rottet Studio in New York from 2010 to 2014.
He began his career as an architectural designer with Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) in 2006 before transitioning in 2007 to job captain and project manager for ICRAVE, where he crafted interiors for STK Midtown NYC and Ristorante Asellina at Gansevoort Park Avenue.
Vela earned a bachelor of architecture from Syracuse University in 2005 and a master’s degree in advanced architectural design from Columbia University in 2006.
