The CityFlatsHotel in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is the second hotel state to achieve LEED Gold certification. Located in the city’s iconic Fox Jewelers Building, the hotel has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce waste, conserve energy and water, and create a healthy environment for guests.
Among the sustainable resources used:
- Cradle-to-cradle recycled glass and concrete
- Low-VOC paint
- Energy-efficient fixtures
- Rapidly renewable materials such as bamboo and cork
- Bamboo linens that can be laundered in cold water
- Locally produced mattresses
- High-efficiency heating and cooling units with occupancy sensors
- Low-flow faucets and toilets
