CityFlatsHotel Named Second LEED Gold Hotel in Michigan

The CityFlatsHotel in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is the second hotel state to achieve LEED Gold certification. Located in the city’s iconic Fox Jewelers Building, the hotel has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce waste, conserve energy and water, and create a healthy environment for guests.

Among the sustainable resources used:

  • Cradle-to-cradle recycled glass and concrete
  • Low-VOC paint
  • Energy-efficient fixtures
  • Rapidly renewable materials such as bamboo and cork
  • Bamboo linens that can be laundered in cold water
  • Locally produced mattresses
  • High-efficiency heating and cooling units with occupancy sensors
  • Low-flow faucets and toilets
