Developed by BFC Partners in partnership with the creative team behind Manhattan’s Gansevoort Market, the Marketplace at Empire Outlets (MRKTPL) is slated to open in late 2017 within the forthcoming Empire Outlets retail development—located along New York’s waterfront St. George neighborhood on Staten Island.
MRKTPL will feature 12,000 square feet of industrial-inspired communal F&B spaces, along with an estimated 3,000 square feet of outdoor dining space, that nod to the borough’s roots as a commercial trade hub.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring such lifestyle expertise from Manny Del Castillo and Jamie Hinojos, the creative director and director of operations from the Gansevoort Market team, to our center with the addition of MRKTPL,” says Joseph Ferrara, a partner with Don Capoccia and Brandon Baron at BFC Partners.
Designed by locally based SHoP Architects, the mixed-use Empire Outlets will include 340,000 square feet of retail space, 40,000 square feet of F&B outlets, a 190-room hotel, a structured 1,250-space parking garage, and open, water-facing corridors. The development will be adjacent to the forthcoming New York Wheel, which, at 630 feet, is set to be one of the tallest observation wheels in the Western Hemisphere.
