Luxury real estate developer SHVO has announced that Foster + Partners will oversee a $250 million revamp of the Transamerica Pyramid Center in San Francisco. The largest renovation in the property’s 50-year history, the redevelopment will also comprise an additional $150 million investment toward the transformation of the adjacent Three Transamerica building into a contemporary office structure.
“This is an exceptional opportunity to restore the unique Transamerica Pyramid Tower and its historic Redwood Park, to create a very special destination in the heart of San Francisco,” says Norman Foster, Foster + Partners founder and executive chairman. “The existing buildings and new additions are tied together by generous landscaping, which will breathe new public and community life at the sidewalk level. The previous office areas are reborn as new living spaces, with an emphasis on wellbeing. Working in collaboration with Michael Shvo and his team, we look forward to reinvigorating this truly iconic building.”
The project will put a greater emphasis on wellbeing and reimagine offices as sophisticated living spaces defined by comfort and flexibility.
A trio of onsite members’ clubs will be opened along with two floors of retail, while an additional two floors in the heart of the structure will feature a lounge and wellness and conference facilities. A private bar and lounge will occupy the 48-story tower’s top floor as well.
