Sofitel Luxury Hotels’ flagship Southeast Asia property, the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, recently completed a total art-centric renovation of its lobby that began last December.
The Bangkok property’s lobby now includes 72 circular images by French photographer Charles Maze rimming its upper concourse, a new bar left of the foyer featuring an LED-backlit alabaster stone countertop, the La Macaron café and pâtisserie with a Parisian terrace, and the S Gallery and event space showcasing works by international and local artists curated in collaboration with French art advisor Martin Gerlier.
Each piece of Maze’s photography is a contemporary interpretation of anamorphosis—an optical phenomenon developed in the 15th century and used by notables such as Leonardo da Vinci, Hans Holbein, and Albrecht Dürer.
