Amber, the Michelin-starred restaurant at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, has reopened following a four-month refresh from New York-based designer Adam D. Tihany.
“The new Amber is light, curvaceous, and less formal compared to its original design, which conveyed masculine elegance,” says Tihany. “It embraces the evolution of fine dining to portray a more approachable, personal experience.”
A warm palette of neutral tones complements organic forms illuminated via floor-to-ceiling windows that frame panoramic city views. Low, curving partitions snake through the interior to establish pockets of intimacy, while golden rods suspended from the ceiling have been replaced with a bronze ring chandelier. Also new to the interior are custom sculptures crafted by local artist Gail Deayton that draw inspiration from the surrounding urban landscape.
