Mumbai-based architecture and design studio Se-Arch has recently unveiled Afraa, a new multisensory dining experience in Kolkata, the capital of India’s West Bengal state. The 9,000-square-foot eatery is inspired by a medley of international influences.
The main dining room exudes opulence with dark wood tones, velvet textures, and fabrics highlighted in deep yellow and white. The earthy color palette complements greenery, while low lighting evokes a nostalgic feeling as it illuminates shelving and walls. The interior height increases as one moves through the space, with informal seating configurations installed beneath the loftiest points. The Afraa lounge reflects Kolkata’s art and architectural history, with the marble- and w00d-clad bar serving as the centerpiece of the restaurant.
