Steakhouse concept Cowboy Star has been reborn in the East Village of San Diego. The update by locally based design practice BASILE Studio enhances the bar area and integrates a number of subtle technological upgrades.
The expanded entry space allows for a new 50-foot U-shaped bar, which features a copper-and-epoxy top and a corrugated bar face composed of copper and steel. The bar’s custom hand-welded foot rail features horseshoe detailing as well. Engraved wood inlays atop the bar serve as wireless cell phone power stations, illuminated by manual dimmer lamps.
Mechanical liquor shelves suspended from the original bar rafters are outfitted with a motion sensor that descends when prompted by bartenders. Additionally, the oversized wine closet showcases more than 160 bottles in hand-stitched leather hammocks accented with hammerhead copper.
