Middle South East has debuted in the Melbourne suburb of South Yarra with a design by Victoria, Australia-based interior design practice Biasol that reflects the restaurant’s Middle Eastern and local influences.
Elements such as handmade tiles, aged brass fixtures, and varying terracotta tones characterize the open 2,454-square-foot interior, which is configured to promote interaction between diners and staff. A central bar and angular wall is installed along with pendant lighting that offsets the palette with shades of pink. A blue water station covered in terrazzo shelving is fixed as the centerpiece of Middle South East, complete with a tall tap reminiscent of a drinking fountain. Terrazzo also appears upon the stone bar, which is appointed with dark blue stools. Pervasive greenery provides a pop of color to the warm, earthen palette.
