Amsterdam-based architecture and design practice Concrete has crafted the first U.S. café for New Jersey-based coffee roaster Coperaco. Located in Harrison, New Jersey’s Harrison Urby complex, Coperaco Café features a combination of greenery, millwork, decorative lighting, and multicolored tiling for a tropical quality.
Located on the ground floor, the café is housed inside a freestanding house-shaped volume clad with a soft, green façade and vertical batten that recalls the design of an old farmhouse. A marble bar anchors the double-height garden room, which is also appointed with a 16-foot-tall tree surrounded with round tables and banquette benches as well as a grand piano. The café is designed with a two-story wooden treehouse that features a wall of braided rope. The lower level hosts a living room with plush seating and a fireplace, while the upper deck includes a library full of books.
