Japanese- and Spanish-inspired restaurant Cranes has joined the dining lineup in the Penn Quarter section of Washington, DC. For the design of the eatery and sake lounge, locally based firm //3877 devised a scheme to complement the beauty and color of its cuisine.
The 11,000-square-foot space is punctuated by a palette of wood tones, copper accents, and deep green details. Dramatic downlighting and sweeping architectural features further set the moody tone and even double as art installations.
The bar area furthers the artistic statement with glass cranes handmade by artists Kevin Chambers and Gina Words, decorative Sake bottles, and copper slatting. Up-lit Satori plaster frames the expo kitchen, accentuating the locally sourced fumed walnut walls and oak floors, and custom furniture with smooth, subtle lines infuses a dash of femininity into the restaurant.
