Following two years of research and development, Aman has announced the launch of its new sister brand, Janu. A natural counterpart to Aman, which translates to “peace” in Sanskrit, Janu draws its name from the language’s word for “soul.” The brand will serve as an “energetic” counterpoint to Aman and better accommodate travelers who are seeking connections and a greater sense of purpose.
“The overlap between Aman and its sibling is mutually beneficial; together they offer a total solution for the fluctuating needs and desires of today’s global travel cognoscenti,” says Vladislav Doronin, the company’s chairman and CEO. “We saw a white space in the market, and we want to push the hotel industry into a new sphere. What with today’s modern fast-paced society, which has seen human connection and communication redefined by the digital world, we wanted to create a new hotel brand with a soul and with the aim of kick-starting human interaction again.”
Janu will officially launch with three properties—Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, and Tokyo—set to open in 2022.
Greek firm Elastic Architects is spearheading the architecture of Janu Montenegro, while Yabu Pushelberg is overseeing the interior design. Janu Al-Ula Saudi Arabia is being designed by London-based architect John Heah.
Each hotel will feature a contemporary aesthetic that maximizes both space and light. Large, tranquil guestrooms will be endowed with handsome furnishings and spacious bathrooms. Expansive wellness facilities will also be developed onsite each of the three properties to reflect the brand’s dedication to holistic care.
