Portland, Oregon-based design firm ELK Collective has unveiled the interior design of the new speakeasy bar Voysey in its hometown. Named in homage to influential British architect and designer CFA Voysey, who inspired the design of the original structure, the concept features a staircase cast in red lighting leading guests inside.
Reminiscent of 1920s film noir as well as Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, Voysey’s interior design features modernist references wrapped in a burgundy color palette. Punctuated with surrealistic floral patterns and unique items like the pink mirror face, the space is anchored by its signature bar topped with terrazzo and alabaster lamps.
“Voysey caters to femininity in us all, the deep down wickedly, wild, and wondrous part,” says Elk Collective principal and design lead Kelly Ogden-Gregg. “We set out to create something really special, an experiential environment that makes you feel as though you’ve just left Portland for Paris.”
