New York coffee shop Felix Roasting Co. celebrates its westward expansion with the launch of its latest location at the Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Aspen, Colorado.
Designed by New York- and California-based decorator Ken Fulk, the space features a romantic, maximalist aesthetic that complements the alpine spirit of the renowned Auberge destination. “The design of Felix is inspired by the highly decorative culture of the grand European cafés in Vienna and Milan,” explains Fulk. “The Aspen location continues this tradition by taking its cues from the historic location within Hotel Jerome with built-in casework, rich velvets and a stamped tin ceiling.”
Spread across 710 square foot, the Aspen location retains its original architectural integrity with layered natural textures, custom décor, plush velvet seating, and floral wallpaper that nods to the New York flagship. Wainscot built-ins adorned with a blush hue line the perimeter of the space, while white oak floors were laid in a distinct chevron pattern that extends from a central brass medallion. Vintage pink glass chandeliers softly illuminate the space’s many quirks, including historic prints and pastel abstract portraits by artist Jose Trujillo.
“We wanted to create an inviting space that elevates what has become a major part of people’s daily ritual and honors it as a shared experience,” Fulk adds. “We want guests to feel like they can settle in and take a moment to enjoy their coffee and pastry, surrounded by beautiful art and design.”
