FICO Eataly World is set to debut in Bologna, Italy during the second half of 2017. Emphasizing the biodiversity of Italian cuisine, FICO Eataly World will promote community across 20 acres with a simple mantra of “Eat, Shop, and Learn.” Eataly co-founders Oscar Farinetti and Tiziana Primori partnered with Bologna Mayor Virgnio Merola and Governor Stefano Bonaccini of the Emilia-Romagna region to launch the large-scale concept, which is expected to draw six million visitors annually.
Four acres of pastures and farms will be dedicated to growing regional crops and raising indigenous livestock. Forty shops will craft artisanal products from pastries to pasta in addition to 2.5 acres of markets and bottegas. Street food carts, onsite taverns, and 25 themed restaurants will feature the same ingredients used throughout FICO. Education and cultural appreciation will be promoted throughout the 43,500-square-foot event venue with 10 classrooms, two miles of educational paths, and six multimedia areas highlighting the main products and findings in the agribusiness world. Concepts such as the FICO Foundation for Education and Food Sustainability will develop new strategies and operational projects for enhanced sustainability and food education.
