Chef Shaun Rankin has debuted his latest restaurant, Ormer Mayfair, in London’s Flemings Mayfair hotel. The eatery is designed by Tony Filmer, who also oversaw the hotel’s multimillion-dollar guestroom redesign last year.
Evoking a quintessentially British ambiance, Ormer Mayfair, like the hotel itself, draws influence from the glamour and style of the 1930s. A subtle sophistication permeates through the eatery thanks to details like aged oak wood paneling and Carrara and Nero Marquina marble that spans the floors in a geometric monochrome pattern. Elegant seating includes forest green velvet banquettes threaded with gold and British racing green distressed leather chairs. The design also features a coastal motif evident in delicate seashell shades and the reception desk adorned with glistening tan gold fish scales.
A variety of seating configurations are partitioned by bronze and cast-glass screens, and the “naughty table” is hidden behind a red velvet curtain. Private dining is also offered in the Half Moon suite, seating up to 12 guests, while the Clarges suite accommodates up to 20 diners.
