Iconic chef Jean-George Vongerichten has announced plans to open his next restaurant—a new iteration of the Paris Café within the forthcoming TWA Hotel at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Slated to open in spring 2019, the eatery will occupy the space previously home to the original Paris Café and Lisbon Lounge inside Eero Saarinen’s landmark terminal design. The new Paris Café will pay homage to the Jet Age as well as its predecessor, which was designed by Raymond Loewy. Vongerichten will partner on the project with boutique airport restaurateur Tastes on the Fly.
“As an avid traveler,” says Vongerichten, “I am very excited to be a part of recreating a culinary destination in this iconic landmark.”
In addition to 512 ultra-quiet guestrooms, the hotel will also feature 50,000 square feet of event space, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center, a rooftop pool and observation deck, and a museum dedicated to TWA and midcentury modern design.
