Milan’s CityLife Shopping District, the largest urban shopping district in Italy, has welcomed its newest culinary addition, Peck. Designed by Milanese architecture and design practice Vudafieri – Saverino Partners, the 3,230-square-foot eatery translates the legacy of the Peck brand through a contemporary lens.
The restaurant’s fluid layout connects the delicatessen, restaurant, wine bar, and cocktail bar. Interiors recall post-war Milan with flooring reminiscent of historic Milanese stone and a false wooden ceiling that channels the Villa Necchi Campiglio of Milanese architect Piero Portaluppi. Decorative lamps convey a modern, post-industrial flair inspired by the traditional palaces of Milan
Greeting visitors upon arrival is the deli counter, beyond which lies 50 seats across the delicatessen and restaurant as well as 20 additional spots at the bars. Mirrors in the restaurant add depth to the dining room, which also includes vertical pillars and long wooden shelves. Suspended wooden ceilings are fixed in a diamond mesh shape that honors Milan’s architectural traditions. Shelving units in the wine bar are accented by black lesenes, while handpainted porcelain tiles inspired by 1950s photography wrap the copper counter of the cocktail station.
