Housed in the basement of Austin’s historic 1918 Stratford Arms Building, Sophia’s supper club has opened, offering a modern twist on Italian-American cuisine. Featuring both masculine and feminine design elements, the space is designed with service industry professionals in mind.
Designer and a service industry veteran Elizabeth Pena Brown focused on seating and service flow in the design in collaboration with BDG Hospitality’s in-house team. Spread across 3,700 square feet, Sophia’s includes a bar and lounge area, an open dining room with intimate alcoves, and a covered terrace upstairs.
Plush, blue jewel-toned chairs infuse color and softness into the speakeasy-style atmosphere alongside inviting light fixtures, custom artwork, and an antique European pewter bar that emphasizes the contrast between new and old. Three days a week, the restaurant transitions into a nightclub with DJ equipment stored in a repurposed fireplace.
