Japanese restaurant Sumosan has unveiled its latest outpost at the Address Beach Resort Bahrain in Manama.
The design of Sumosan Bahrain
Designed by Dubai- and Miami-based Bishop Design on behalf of the Collection of Experiences, Sumosan Bahrain features a main dining area, private room, bar lounge, and scenic terrace.
The interior is a visual feast. Sumosan’s signature green tones blend with the organic textures of warm woods and raw stone, all highlighted by refined metal accents.
Eye-catching design elements—like wave-patterned metal chains and a bold, fan-shaped wall installation—serve as sculptural centerpieces, casting intricate shadows that enhance the tactile ambiance.
Entering through intricately carved wooden doors, Guests will find a dynamic ceiling design and metallic wall treatments, which add layers of drama and warmth, in the bar area.
The crucial role of lighting
Sumosan’s atmosphere is further elevated by custom lighting, particularly oversized lanterns inspired by traditional Asian designs. These lanterns, crafted from fibrous textures, diffuse a soft glow that creates a mesmerizing effect thanks to the fixtures’ varying sizes and heights.
This new Bahrain location is Sumosan’s fourth venture in the Middle East and its ninth globally.
