In collaboration with the Trump Organization, chef Geoffrey Zakarian of Zakarian Hospitality has announced that he will open the National restaurant in the forthcoming Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC.
Zakarian and partner Louis Ceruzzi’s new American bistro concept is slated to open in mid-2016 after the Trump Organization completes its $200 million redevelopment of the historic Old Post Office. The restaurant will be Zakarian’s first in DC.
“The Trumps are world class developers and hoteliers with an unparalleled commitment to excellence, and I am honored to work with them on such an iconic project in the heart of Washington, DC,” says Zakarian. “With this historic backdrop, my goal is to create a place where neighbors, residents, and travelers alike can come anytime of day to experience a warm and generous approach to food and dining.”
Chef José Andrés will also open a signature restaurant in the hotel and curate the lobby bar’s F&B program.
The hotel will feature 270 guestrooms with 16-foot ceilings, tall windows, restored historic millwork, crystal sconces and chandeliers, a 5,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, and 36,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Its two presidential suites, measuring 3,500 and 5,000 square feet, will be among the largest in the country.
