Cobe designs a library that looks like a book

Gazing upon the new University of Gothenburg library, one might notice the vertical elements of the façade and the slight curve of the structure resemble the stacked pages of a book beginning to open. Danish architecture firm Cobe won a competition to design the 172,000-square-foot library, reports Dezeen, in which the eight upper floors are home to the wood-clad library, while the active ground floor will feature granite pavement and a concrete structure delineating different spaces.
U.S. labor shortage hits hotels gearing up for summer

As with other service industries around the U.S., hotels haven’t been able to staff up as quickly as demand has returned, according to CBS News. As guests come back faster than workers, some hotels are even offering signing bonuses and other perks. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona, for example, is giving $500 to new hires, as well as to staff that provide successful referrals. As of Wednesday, the resort had approximately 200 job openings.
A 70-year-old lost Manhattan MoMA exhibit and home has been found

Debuting as an exhibit in the Museum of Modern Art’s (MoMA) garden in 1950, architect Gregory Ain’s glass-walled house—featuring a system of moveable walls that gave it the illusion of being more spacious—more or less vanished after the exhibit was over, reports The New York Times. But earlier this year, historian George Smart, who specializes in mid-20th century modernist homes was able to identify the owners through MoMA’s archives, and found the home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, currently occupied by Mary Kelly and her three adult sons.
Rolls-Royce invites clients into the design team for their Coachbuild program

Clients who want custom cars and have enough money to go well beyond basic specifications now have a path vis Rolls-Royce’s Coachbuild program. According to a story from Core77, the car manufacturer is catering to extremely wealthy individuals that can afford something truly unique. The Boat Tail, for example, which made the rounds on car blogs recently, is a one-off droptop that features a built-in champagne fridge, umbrella, and picnic service in the trunk.
