Resorts World Las Vegas makes its long-anticipated debut

Though the Las Vegas Strip has seen many a new restaurants and hotel restorations, Resorts World Las Vegas is the first new casino resort constructed from scratch in more than 10 years, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal—and with a budget of $4.3 billion, it’s now the most expensive to ever land on the Strip. Marvel’s Loki puts the Atlanta Marriott Marquis front and center

The Time Variance Authority structure in Marvel’s Loki TV series, which is streaming on Disney+, may look like Hollywood magic, but House Beautiful points to the 50-story, 4-star Atlanta Marriott Marquis as the stand-in for the time-displaced bureau where Tom Hiddleston’s titular God of Mischief spends much of his time on the show. The hotel was originally designed by Atlanta-based architect John C. Portman, Jr. and boasts what was once the world’s largest atrium. Marvel Studios is up to its own mischief, however, as a previous production, Spider-Man: Far From Home, also shot scenes at the hotel for an entirely different in-universe location.
CDC greenlights first ocean-bound cruise ship since the start of the pandemic

Tomorrow, the Celebrity Edge, a Celebrity Cruises vessel, will become the first ship to return to service in the U.S. since COVID-19 hit early last year. On top of the milestone, Seatrade Cruise News reports that Captain Kate McCue will be the first woman from the U.S. to helm a major commercial line. At present, all ship guests aged 16 and above are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Be Original Americas partners with Skyline Design for return of in-person student fellowship

After the Be Original Americas Student Fellowship Program went virtual for 2020 and 2021, the organization is readying for a return to in-person learning in 2022 with a new partnership with Chicago-based glass manufacturer Skyline Design. The firm will donate a portion of sales of its new Obscura collection to help fund programming and operations for the 2022 session.
