Auberge Resorts Collection is growing its portfolio with the addition of a storied architectural landmark located in the Hyde Park section of Austin, Texas. Originally constructed in 1928, the Commodore Perry Estate serves as the centerpiece of 10 secluded acres. The property has been meticulously restored by Pasadena, California-based architecture firm Moule & Polyzoides and New York-based designer Ken Fulk to evoke a modern reinterpretation of its historic, stately design. Austin-based firm Clayton & Little also contributed to the project.
Channeling Old World European opulence and the joie de vivre of the Roaring Twenties, the property is updated with a palette of muted pink, apricot, and celadon tones, and includes rich velvets and ageless patterns.
“As designer and creative director of the property, our goal was to craft guest experiences that would celebrate this utterly unique estate,” Fulk says. “Everything—from the interior design to the in-room amenities and the offerings around the estate—was designed to merge the property’s relaxed European charm with truly gracious Texas hospitality.”

Retaining an elegant, residential-style ethos, the 10,800-square-foot mansion anchors the property. Five distinctive bedrooms range from the globally inspired Mr. Perry’s suite to the decadent Mrs. Perry’s suite, which is adorned with velvet and faux fur against an aptly pink backdrop. Beyond the formal entryway and main hall, social areas include a cocktail bar, living room, ovular library, and solarium.
A new three-story inn is also featured onsite in a courtyard shrouded by palm trees. Home to 42 guestrooms and seven terraced suites, the inn was crafted by Moule & Polyzoides to complement the estate through a contemporary lens. Accommodations by Ken Fulk further echo the history of the site with custom accents, vintage pieces, and Juliette balconies overlooking lush gardens. The social lower level is outfitted with high-gloss, curry-toned wall paneling, as well as a mix of midcentury Italian furniture and Spanish pieces from the 1920s.
Additional onsite amenities include a 50-foot swimming pool, fitness center, and organic kitchen garden. The repurposed chapel will serve as an indoor-outdoor event space, while Lutie’s Garden Restaurant is set to debut this fall.
