1 Hotels is growing its portfolio with the addition of its first Chinese property: 1 Hotel Haitang Bay in Sanya. The 294-key project demonstrates an emphasis on sustainability with a design from Oval Partnership that includes green hallmarks like leafy skylights and stacks of salvaged roof tiles reminiscent of coastal cliff faces.
Crafted to pay homage to Sanya’s tropical flora and fauna, the hotel’s architecture is punctuated by lava stone and red cedar. Interiors by Singapore-based design firm FARM further echo this theme with spaces that draw inspiration from the setting’s fertile volcanic plains, green forested hills, and sparkling beaches. A lush courtyard of mangrove trees and living green walls welcome guests.
The 1 Hotel Haitang Bay’s F&B options will include Noodle House restaurant, Drift lobby lounge, Sky Bar rooftop lounge, Sandbox poolside bar, and the grab-and-go Juice Bar.
Ranging from 660 to 14,000 square feet, each of the spacious guestrooms and suites celebrate island life through a contemporary lens. Unpolished and locally sourced volcanic basalt stone and wood are featured prominently, while natural furnishings abound in the form of rattan rugs, live-edge timber desks, and stools fashioned from tree stumps. Reclaimed timber and steel sourced from old fishing boats are also incorporated into each accommodation.
