25hours Hotels has grown its European footprint with the opening of the 25hours Hotel Piazza San Paolino in Florence, Italy. Spread across more than 115,000 square feet and three buildings, the 171-room property was crafted by local firm Genius Loci Architettura and interior designer Paola Navone with a contemporary idiosyncrasy that explores the tension between Dante’s Inferno and Paradiso.
“We enjoyed imagining a free and visionary interpretation of the theme,” Paola Navone says in a statement. “The Divina Commedia, the theme chosen for the Florentine hotel, gave us the chance to transform the spaces of the historical monumental complex into a sequence of amazing and pop scenes, in which the suggestions multiply in an unexpected mix of references, quotes, digressions, and contaminations that freely cross times and places.”
An eclectic mixture of materials and objets d’art punctuates the interior, showcasing both traditional Italian craftsmanship and bespoke elements. A colorful, expressive palette characterizes the interior, particularly in the onsite Italian restaurant San Paolino (pictured above). Serving as the nucleus of the hotel, the eatery evokes a soothing modernism with hues of green and blue accentuated by natural light pouring in through the greenhouse-style atrium.
A gym, swimming pool, retail space, relaxation room, sauna, and two multipurpose rooms round out the onsite amenities.
