Industry leaders from around the world gathered at the New York Marriott Marquis this week for the 43rd annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. Held by the NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, the conference took place November 7–9th.
Day one of the conference featured “The CEOs Check-In: A View from the Top,” where hospitality executives discussed the evolving investment landscapes. Amid ongoing industry growth, executives shared positive outlooks for 2022. “Beyond the Boardroom” saw Loews Hotel & Co. chairman and CEO Jonathan M. Tisch interviewing JPMorgan Chase chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon on the social, political, technological, and economic forces currently disrupting the world and international travel and lodging. The day closed with “Reimagining the Workforce: Labor Challenges and Opportunities in Travel and Lodging,” a session in which leaders reconsidered how to transform the travel and lodging workforce to meet mounting labor challenges and other opportunities across the industry.
The final day of the conference kicked off with “The Leaders Check-In – Part Two: Consolidation, Scale, and the Structure of the Hospitality Industry,” which tackled a wide range of topics from consumer demand to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Accountability was addressed further in the “Forging a New Path Toward Racial Equity in the C-Suite” roundtable discussion and lunchtime included the “Partnering for Change: A Dean’s Discussion” session. Day two wrapped with a conversation between Bloomberg’s Patrick Clark and Accor CEO and chairman Sébastien M. Bazin that highlighted the pandemic’s varied impact on industry leaders.
