Hotel and winery Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine, located in Spain’s Duero wine-growing region, reopened this month after closing for three months to remodel its spa and guestrooms. Additionally, the property’s premier Refectorio restaurant, helmed by head chef Pablo Montero, received its first Michelin Star in November, driving momentum for the property.
Originally a 12th century abbey, the 1,730-acre grounds remain significantly unchanged since it was constructed in 1146. The hotel will house its eight new guestrooms and 10,000 square foot spa, el Santuario, in its former stables; the guestrooms and the spa will not open until July. The new rooms under construction will bring the total to 30 rooms and suites with 22 currently available. Along with Refectorio, guests can dine at the Jardin del Claustro, which serves tapas, small dishes, and wine from the hotel’s Vinoteca wine cellar. LeDomaine has been recognized for its award-winning single terroir and advanced wineries. More than 500 acres of the estate are allocated to wine production with 54 vine plots.
LeDomaine will also offer revamped guest experience programs, such as the Mycological Experience where guests forage for wild mushrooms and then eat dishes prepared with them. Helicopter flights, horse and cycling estate tours, medieval falconry, and wine tastings are also available. Further amenities include complete butler service, winery visits, and Google Glass.
