AC Hotels by Marriott International is set to expand its footprint in New York later this month with the opening of the AC Hotel New York Downtown in the city’s revitalized Seaport District. Spread across 33 stories, the European-inspired lifestyle concept will be the brand’s second in the Big Apple. A geometric façade will introduce the 274-room hotel to the neighborhood with a wave-like pattern from locally based architect Peter Poon, who was influenced by the movements of the East River.
Crafted to reflect the vernacular of the neighborhood, the interiors will be a collaborative effort between New York-based designers Kyi Gyaw, Phillip Poon, and Jude Smith. A striking, suspended Italian marble staircase at the entrance will be installed at the threshold of additional installations from local artists like Rachel Weiss and Thomas Hammer. The interior design will also be outfitted with brand signatures like the AC Kitchen and AC Lounge.
