AJ Capital Partners recently launched the Graduate Charlottesville hotel adjacent to the University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center.
Converted from a former Red Roof Inn, the 135-room hotel is the year-old brand’s newest offering and is located along the Corner, an area lined with restored landmark restaurants and retail outlets.
Like all Graduate properties, the new hotel features a unique design, with a vintage vibe juxtaposed with contemporary finishes that reference the hotel’s surroundings. A lobby staircase leads up to a game room overlooking the UVA Medical Center with classic games, such as shuffleboard, foosball, and ping-pong. A rooftop bar, restaurant, and ballroom will open later this fall. Accommodations include the Jefferson suites, mountain view rooms, city view rooms, and a number of standard accommodations.
The Graduate Charlottesville is the brand’s fifth hotel, with additional openings expected this year in Richmond, Virginia; Oxford, Mississippi; and Durham, North Carolina.
The company also anticipates spending more than $500 million over the next five years to develop approximately 20 more Graduate-branded hotels in college towns.
“We want to be the first mover in this entire space to grow a national collegiate-based hotel product,” says Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners.
