Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi as part of the iconic Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi. The new property, which marks the arrival of the Andaz brand in the Middle East, occupies floors 18 through 33 of the Capital Gate building and holds the denomination as the world’s furthest leaning hotel at an 18-degree incline.
The hotel’s design aims to immerse visitors in the local culture, drawing from the visual identity of the United Arab Emirates. Through various textures and layering, the design establishes a narrative of the nation’s humble beginnings and traditions. Four cultural symbols are integrated as motifs into the setting to emphasize the influence of Emirati culture, including intricate wooden window decorations known as Masrabiya; Khatt, or poetic Islamic calligraphy; iconic Date Palm elements; and Al Sadu, or traditionally woven fabrics. The ground floor of the hotel will also immerse guests in a sense of place through the promotion of artwork from local artists and artisans.
All 189 guestrooms and suites feature a warm sense of Arabian hospitality with details like floor-to-ceiling glass-paneled windows. Onsite F&B options include the aptly named Mediterranean restaurant 18 Degrees as well as the laidback Lounge concept. Rounding out the hotel’s amenities, the 19th floor features the Rayana Spa, which is outfitted with a suspended outdoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center.
