Ireland’s Ashford Castle has reopened by Prime Minister Enda Kenny after completing extensive renovations and joining the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
Located in Cong, the 800-year-old castle’s $75 million renovation took two years to complete and includes new amenities such as a 32-seat movie theater, billiards room, cigar terrace, luxury lakeside cottage, children’s game room, and boutique wine cellars designed for private dining. The design team included Beatrice Tollman, president and founder of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, and her daughter Toni Tollman.
“After two years during which Tollman and her amazing team, including her daughter Toni Tollman, have invested so much time, passion, expertise and hard work, this phenomenal restoration and enhancement program is in its very final stages,” says Jonathan Raggett, managing director of Red Carnation Hotels.
All public areas and 82 guestrooms and suites have been revamped with curated antiques, new artwork, and bespoke carpets. Its outdoor areas, totaling 350-acres, were updated, including facilities such as its onsite falconry school, equestrian center, nine-hole golf course, and tennis courts.
A new spa that includes five treatment rooms, a gym, and an indoor ozone-filtrated swimming pool is slated to open in July.
