Singapore-based hospitality company Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has joined forces with Island Developers to launch its very first property in the Caribbean. The Banyan Tree illa Bahamas—previously known as illa Bimini Resort & Residences—is located just 48 nautical miles from Miami and spans 40 acres and three private islands.
Designed by architect Chad Oppenheim of Oppenheim Architecture + Design, the eco-conscious retreat comprises 50 keys and 54 luxe residences. Included among the resort’s accommodations will be authentic Maldives-style overwater bungalows—a first in the Caribbean.
Hotel suites will be equipped with private terraces and plunge pools, a Banyan Tree signature. Guests can also relax at the Banyan Tree Spa, and the resort plans to offer culinary pop-ups, live performances, and meditations onsite.
