San Diego’s L’Auberge Del Mar, A Destination Hotel, has unveiled its new guestroom designs from Los Angeles-based Barclay Butera, who previously led a redesign of the property in 2008. Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s oceanfront location in the city’s North County, the 121 guestrooms reflect Butera’s signature modern beach flair accented with clean, transitional décor.
Each guestroom features a calming backdrop of crisp whites and subdued neutrals accented by fresh beach colors, such as ocean blue, sea glass greens, and soft sand hues. The scheme is layered with a variety of textures including damask prints, patterned wallcoverings, striped carpets, and custom bedding. The redesign includes a mixture of contemporary and traditional elements with modern artwork contrasting bright wood cabinetry and vibrant lighting. Subtle geometric details also boost visual interest, while dark wood furnishings anchor each room. Splashes of coral and seashells are provided via patterned, oversized accent pillows
The hotel recently announced its partnership with photographer Aaron Chang, whose work depicting colorful beach scenes will adorn the walls.
