The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida has revealed it will undergo lobby renovations by locally based practices D’Shakil Designs and Studio 5 Design + Architecture. It is slated to open this July with refreshed drapery, furniture, and more.
The upgrades will draw inspiration from the national landmark’s iconic architecture and ceiling frescos first conceived by George Merrick, the hotel’s original developer. The design team will inject the space with wood inlays, gold leaf, and other luxurious materials without disrupting the classic Italian, Moorish, and Spanish influences that inform the original aesthetic. Detailed wool carpeting will feature deep blue hues that complement the rich green and blue velvet-tufted furniture.
