Kennebunkport, Maine resort Hidden Pond has partnered with American menswear designer Todd Snyder to debut the Bungalows by Todd Snyder. The redesign of the resort’s 20 bungalows follows the successful 2020 launch of the two-bedroom From Away Lodge by Todd Snyder. Inspired by the rustic beauty of the Pine Tree State, the newly revamped one-bedroom accommodations each boast an approachable-yet-elegant ethos reflected across three configurations: Countryside, Mountainside, and Seaside.
“What we did with the From Away Lodge is very meaningful to me and represents a specific moment in time where my trips to Maine directly inspired me. I was visiting the state on inspiration trips for my ongoing collaboration with L.L.Bean, and became awestruck over the beauty that is unique to Maine, especially on the grounds of Hidden Pond,” Snyder says. “I wanted to preserve the existing bungalows’ charm and weave in design elements that translate into each new concept.”
Each of the 650-square-foot bungalows are equipped with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, an outdoor rain shower, screened-in porches, spacious marble bathrooms, king beds, and expansive windows that reinforce the surrounding birch forest. Countryside bungalows evoke a masculine sensibility with darker hues that channel the setting. Camouflage wallpaper, dark hardwood floors, and walnut sisal rugs complement the utilitarian décor, while reupholstered wingback chairs, moss-colored sofas, custom benches, walnut side tables, and black mahogany bedframes nod to the fashion designer’s apparel.
Mountainside bungalows embody tranquility and warmth through a soothing, earthy palette of cool blues, greens, and rich umbers. Gray-blue walls and leafy wallpaper offset dark hardwood floors and carbon black sisal rugs, while midcentury canopy beds, cherry wood accent chairs, and colorful plaid and leather upholstery instill a midcentury flair beneath a midnight black chandelier.
Finally, Seaside bungalows channel a classic American beach house with off-white hardwood floors, light plaid stone curtains, oyster shell wallpaper, and a clean white color palette. Whimsical and peaceful, the concept also features midcentury-style furnishings and nature-inspired accents.
