The Casa Hoyos hotel in downtown San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has unveiled its new look, courtesy of Mexico City–based AG Interior Studio. The boutique concept, which has been owned by the Hoyos family for four generations, has been reborn at the intersection of colonial heritage and chic, eclecticism.
Akin to an old Spanish manor, the upgraded property reinterprets convention through color and geometric exploration. Artisanal techniques abound throughout the interior, including glazed ceramics, pasta tiles, and clay slabs. Elements such as pure concrete, textured glass, steel frames, and black accents further support the property’s transition from historic and traditional to vibrant and contemporary.
Additionally, each of the hotel’s 16 accommodations echo the regional vernacular with unique light fixtures, calaca armchairs, mirrored pots for greenery, and woven tapestries.
