AC Hotels has debuted in Atlanta with AC Hotel Atlanta Buckhead at Phipps Plaza. The opening marks the first new Buckhead property in eight years. Local design firm Cooper Carry bestowed the six-story, 166-room hotel with a classic look to complement the trend-driven neighborhood and location nearby Lenox Square Mall.
“The hotel design reflects its upscale surroundings and lifestyles of those frequenting the thriving corner of Peachtree Road and Wieuca Road,” says Bob Neal, a principal at Cooper Carry’s Hospitality Studio. “We think of it as the little black dress or navy suit adjacent to the high-end world of fashion.”
The hotel also boasts sustainable elements such as a 360-degree rooftop photo sensor and glazed metal oxide glass to reduce energy consumption across the property. Interiors reflect the brand’s identity with modern colors and European and Spanish details, while deconstructed king guestrooms organically integrate bedrooms and bathrooms into a unified space.
“These rooms resonate with today’s traveler,” Neal adds. “Often times, guests would rather work from bed than from a desk, and they rarely use closet space. They also want easy access to get ready at the sink and mirror, so we catered to their mindset and infused a European designers’ eye for style throughout the project.”
Public spaces include the AC Lounge, AC Kitchen, AC Library, a 24-hour fitness center, and a heated indoor whirlpool. Cooper Carry’s Johnson Studio is also crafting a new Ecco restaurant for the hotel, slated to debut in mid-2017.
