Part of the Viceroy Urban Retreats in San Francisco’s SoMa district, Hotel Zelos has unveiled upgrades to its 202 guestrooms and suites. Led by Seattle-based design firm Dawson Design Associates, rooms boast a polished white and gray color scheme and vivid, computer-generated art pieces.
“The Z Hotels have a very strong identity,” says Dawson Design creative director Andrea Sheehan. “We always want the hotels to be genuine, relevant, original, artistic, and playfully provocative. San Francisco is synonymous with technology, so playfully fusing technology and the chaos it creates as our underlying design narrative seemed both relevant and obvious in a hotel named after the God of Chaos. How could we resist?”
The hotel lobby will undergo a redesign this spring, complete with an elaborate sculpture of the Hindu goddess Shiva, composed of upcycled electronics.
