Oxford Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to renovate the Days Inn Chicago and rebrand the Lincoln Park-Lakeview property as the lifestyle concept Hotel Versey. Designed by New York-based firm Chipman Design Architecture, the landmark 1920s structure’s renovation is slated for completion later this spring.
The 135-room hotel’s colorful role in music history will be highlighted in the refresh. The building, originally named the Diversey Arms, was home to jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke, and later earned the nickname “Rock ‘n’ Roll Days Inn” for its clientele, which ranged from Nirvana and Radiohead to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Quirky details will appeal to both visitors and Chicago residents. Public spaces will be appointed with local artwork and feature a street front eatery.
