DXA studio has completed Modo Yoga, a 6,000-square-foot sanctuary in New York’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn neighborhood. The locally based firm collaborated with the studio’s owners to create a space embodying Modo’s foundational wellness principles.
The building houses two 60-person studios as well as abundant locker room and shower spaces. Both rustic and refined, the interior design is intimately scaled with reclaimed wood and a green living wall to offset its exposed brickwork, high ceilings, and column-free layout. Clean lines, cork floors, and reclaimed wood elements are highlighted with diffused lighting thanks to a series of skylights that also ensure tranquility.
A custom fabricated storefront serves as an inviting outdoor social space during warmer months and a gateway to the studio’s retail space. The exterior’s weathered steel reflects the grit of the industrial and metalworking that defines the history of the neighborhood.
