The historic El Cortez Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has debuted the redesign of its top-floor suite, the former home of casino magnate Jackie Gaughan. Originally designed by Gaughan’s wife, Bertie, the suite has been updated but honors its original 1980s style.
Spearheaded by local designers Gisela Isabel and Lora Hunsaker, the revamped 2,700-square-foot suite accommodates two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a wet bar, and a full kitchen. In the Romper Room, a wall is adorned with framed vintage records, which is accented with oversized velvet and shag pillows. The retro style is characterized in the furniture, pink pastel upholstery that graces the walls and floors, and golden swan features that accentuate the pink marbled tub. Original handcarved double doors are equipped with brass handles in the shape of “J” and “G” in honor of Gaughan.
