Last week, Rockbridge announced the opening of Emeline, a new 212-room boutique hotel in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The Omaha office of architectural firm DLR Group crafted the vibrant new property, while Dallas-based Swoon, the Studio conceived the hotel’s low country-style interiors.
Set at the threshold of one of the city’s iconic cobblestone streets, Emeline pulls inspiration from the local flora and fauna, as well as Charleston’s heritage as a port city. A gallery of found objects instills history and a sense of place upon arrival. Onsite F&B options include the Italian eatery Frannie & the Fox and the airy street-level café Clerks Coffee Co. Included within the property’s 13,000 square feet of event space is a fecund courtyard and greenhouse.
As for the accommodations, more than half of Emeline’s rooms feature suite configurations, like the Atelier, a one-bedroom king suite, and the bi-level Maisonette suite that overlooks the courtyard. Contemporary elements like embroidered linens and custom vinyl turntables also accent each guestroom.
